March YVCC Newsletter

Hot off the presses - our own Tina Whitfield puts prose to (digital) paper for a kick-off edition!  Download Now.

After a hiatus, YVCC has re- emerged with a slightly different structure.

MC2, the Dert Jerx, and Montana Velo Bella have all joined together under the YVCC umbrella/tent.  It’s not a new idea. Gallatin Valley Bicycling Club, for example, has several race teams: The Gallatin Alpine Sports/Intrinsik Architec- ture Cycling Team, Team Delphine, Team Muleterro, and Bozeman Masters’ Velo and affiliate clubs. The newest is a mountain bike club: Gallatin Ridge Riders (GRR).

Our talks began last fall. They would be after a lung busting cyclocross practice and with an adult beverage in hand. We gos- siped, shared tall tales, and occa- sionally talk turned to the local scene. In the end we decided our cycling community is stronger if we work together. Each organization will continue to have it’s own identity and mission even as we’re united ad- ministratively under the existing YVCC structure.  For you that means one membership form, one bank account, one website: (http://www.yvcclub.com), etc.

So why be a member? You can be a member of all or any combination of these clubs. Your membership fee helps provide support to a number of YVCC events, example the annual Cow Pie Classique MTB race (fun!) or the annual Christmas Party with no cost for members. So re-join or join today (Form on Page 9 of the newsletter)!

New Website Underway!

by John Pannell

The YVCC is developing a new website that will host club news, training tips, and a ride calendar.  Read on to find out what this means!

How did we ever live without the internet?  For many of us, the web is a communications pipeline keeping us up-to-date with the latest happenings in our fields of interest.  Soon, the same will be true for our cycling!  The YVCC has started the development of a new, member-oriented website that will have the following features:

  • A ride calendar featuring club- and member-contributed listings.
  • Up-to-date news and information regarding local cycling activities.
  • Training tips from the experts in our community.

Bear with us over the coming weeks as we get the site up and running (you might see odd news and tips for a while as testing and development takes place).  The end result should be easy to use and make riding in Billings more convenient and fun!
